Jiménez de Aréchaga, Viana & Brause promotes two new partners

Jiménez de Aréchaga, Viana & Brause promoted Mariela Ruanova and Nicolás Brause as partners. Both lead together the Dispute Resolution Practice of the firm. With this promotion the firm totals eight partners.

This decision reflects the growth that the firm has had during the last years and its commitment towards creating development opportunities for its associates. Moreover, the promotion of the Dispute Resolution leading lawyers evidences the strategic importance that this area of practice has for the firm and aims at enhancing its growth with the litigation expertise of the new partners.

New partners profile

Mariela Ruanova. She specializes in Procedural and Banking Law. Her practice also includes banking and commercial litigation, as well as restructurings. She leads the team which advises Banco Santander, the biggest financial institution of the Uruguayan market. She has extensive experience advising international and local corporate clients of the firm, such as Mondelez, Pepsi, and McDonald’s, and has advised the Corporación Nacional de Desarrollo (Governmental Infrastructure Agency) in the structuring of landmark financial trusts. Mariela co-leads the Dispute Resolution Practice of the firm, and is currently representing international clients such as FOX, American Express and Bow Power Energy in complex commercial litigations.

Nicolás Brause. He specializes in dispute resolution with focus in Commercial, Banking, Bankruptcy Law and Antitrust. His work is also focused on Arbitrations subject to local and international regulations. He is in the roster of arbitrators at the Settlement and Arbitration Center of the Chamber of Commerce and Services of Uruguay. Since 2008 he represents top-toer clients such as the Marfrig Group, Google, Praxair, Grupo Cepas, Ecotecno and Barraca Deambrosi, among others. He led the negotiations of an agreement for the liquidation of the national airline Pluna, that was recognized with the “Deal of the Year” Award by LatinLawyer.
